40 Hours of driving and 4 days in the car, and even a forest fire that sparked up just a few miles from our hotel an hour after we arrived (I will admit, it kind of sort of scared the living crap out of me haha) but every second of it was completely and utterly worth it to be able to shoot such a beautiful and intimate wedding.
Oh man, where do I even begin with how amazing this wedding was?! Joy and Alex got married this week in one of the most beautiful areas of California. Yosemite National Park. This park is beyond gorgeous y’all, and it was the perfect setting for them to say their vows. And these two are just the most amazing humans. Truly just great people. Alex is in the Marines serving our country. And Joy just has this heart full of love. She has been over in Africa until just a few weeks ago doing mission work in Malawi. 3 years together, 2 of which a long distance relationship and their love is stronger than ever.  Friends… that is true love.

On Monday we woke up super early in the morning and met Joy and Alex at their vacation rental to snap a few photos of Joy getting ready and to capture their first look before heading into the park for their bride and groom portraits. Every detail of their day was perfect. From their beautiful rings to the flowers to the dress Joy wore. Perfect. Not to mention, Joy is insanely creative and talented. She did her own makeup for the day of which was seriously flawless, and she even designed and made her own wedding dress. MADE IT!!! Y’all.. just look at it!  This dress is killer. She has some mad skills.

Since this was a holiday weekend, we were pretty limited on access into the park due to the absolutely insane amount of traffic for the Fourth of July. So we played it safe in order to not miss their ceremony and kept close to the entrance and found one beautiful area of the park without a single person in it and it was perfection. The scenery in every part of Yosemite is absolutely stunning and these photos show it. After portraits we headed out of Yosemite to the town of Midpines where they found a perfect little spot to say their vows. Every second of this day was beautiful. Take a look…
